The legendary mountain
Of all the ski mountains in the world, this one is truly special. As Stu Campbell says in Ski, the trails run downhill "as naturally as water."
This is the place—Stowe's Mount Mansfield-that inspired the American skiing tradition, the first ski patrol and generations of thrill seekers, glade runners, riders, goofy footers and corduroy cruisers. At 4,395 feet, Mt. Mansfield is Vermont's highest peak and is home to some of the longest intermediate cruisers in the East. The famous Front Four trails (Starr, Goat, National and Lift Line) are arguably the most exciting runs this side of the Rockies. But each of the 116 trails offers a unique top-to-bottom experience, making Stowe the "Ski Capital of the East."
